Locum work involves taking on short-term assignments to support services when they need cover. This can range from a single shift to longer placements, depending on the role and service.
Yes, locum work gives you flexibility to choose assignments that suit your schedule, preferred locations, and the type of work you enjoy. Some roles are more fixed, while others offer greater flexibility.
Placements can vary from a few days or weeks through to several months. We’ll work with you to find options that fit your availability.
Not necessarily. Many clinicians start locum work without prior experience. As long as you meet registration and compliance requirements, we can support you into your first role.
Requirements vary by role, but typically include an up-to-date CV, proof of qualifications and registration, photo ID, police checks and recent references. Some roles may also require vaccinations, or additional compliance documents.
Locum roles are usually paid at an hourly or daily rate, depending on the role and location. We’ll confirm all details before you accept a placement, and payments are made regularly once timesheets are submitted. We also support you with invoicing and can connect you with Hnry if you’d like additional tax support.
It depends on the role. Many regional or rural placements include support with travel, accommodation, or car hire. Where this is offered, we’ll arrange everything and provide a clear itinerary ahead of your placement.
We’ll stay in touch before, during, and after your placement. That includes support with onboarding, logistics, and any issues that arise, so you’re not navigating things on your own.
