Locum General Practitioner

Start Date: From 24 March or late April 
Duration: 3 months (flexible; open to ongoing availability and partial cover)
Locations: Central Wellington, Porirua, Hutt Valley, Kāpiti
Setting: Aged Residential Care (onsite visits)
PMS: MyPractice
After‑Hours: Shared component preferred
Rates: Negotiable based on experience

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate Locum GP or GP Registrar with experience or a strong interest in Geriatric Medicine to support several aged residential care facilities across the Wellington region.

This role involves onsite medical reviews, managing chronic and acute conditions in older adults, and working collaboratively with facility teams to ensure high‑quality continuity of care. A handover period can be arranged from late April if preferred.

We welcome candidates who can cover all sites, but are equally happy to consider those available for one or several locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide onsite GP services within aged residential care homes
• Manage chronic, acute, and high‑complexity conditions
• Collaborate closely with nursing and facility staff
• Support inbox management
• Participate in a shared after‑hours component (ideal but optional)

What We’re Looking For

• Vocationally Registered GP or GP Registrar with suitable scope
• Background and/or interest in geriatrics / older people’s health
• Compassionate, patient‑centred approach
• Able to work independently across multiple care sites
• Familiarity with MyPractice (training provided if needed)
• Availability from late March or April
• Pay rates negotiable depending on experience level
