Step into one of New Zealand’s most advanced critical care environments. The department features a modern, purpose-built facility with 16 intensive care beds and 12 high-dependency beds, equipped with cutting-edge technology. As an ICU Registrar, you’ll work across the full spectrum of critical care, managing arguably the broadest patient mix in the country.
What makes this role unique?
Care for patients from a major trauma centre, neurosurgical ICU, cardiac surgery ICU, general adult ICU, and limited paediatric ICU
Participate in inter-hospital transfers across the Te Manawa Taki region via helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, and road transport
Join a collaborative team with strong consultant support and structured teaching to help you progress toward advanced training
Provide care for critically ill patients in ICU and HDU settings
Participate in on-call rosters for acute and emergency cases
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes
Eligible for Medical Council of New Zealand registration
Minimum 3 years’ experience, including exposure to ICU or Anaesthesia
Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting
