Acute Services Manager – Mental Health & Addictions Services

Location: Public hospital, west coast of the North Island
Hours: Full time | Monday–Friday | No on-call

A senior leadership opportunity is available for an experienced health practitioner to lead Acute Mental Health Services within a public hospital on the west coast of the North Island.

This is a pivotal role with responsibility across inpatient, crisis and inter-agency response services, requiring strong operational oversight, strategic leadership and extensive acute mental health experience.

About the role

You will have overall responsibility for:

  • Acute mental health inpatient unit (23 beds across General Adult, Psychogeriatric and Intensive Psychiatric Care)

  • 24/7 Mental Health Assessment & Brief Care (Crisis) Service, servicing emergency departments and community referrals

  • Mental Health & Police Co-Response Team, responding to emergency mental health callouts

  • Senior leadership of Clinical Nurse Managers and multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong inter-agency collaboration, including Police and emergency services

About you

  • Senior health practitioner (not limited to nursing)

  • Extensive acute mental health leadership experience

  • Strong operational, people and system leadership capability

  • Confident leading complex services and driving improvement across multiple teams

This role offers broad scope, influence and the opportunity to shape acute mental health service delivery at a system level.
