About the Role:
As a Youth Counselor specialising in trauma, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive counseling services to young individuals who have experienced trauma. Your primary goal will be to support these individuals on their journey towards healing and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed counseling services to young individuals, focusing on addressing the effects of trauma on their mental health and well-being.
- Respond to referrals from various sources, including individuals, families, and community agencies, ensuring timely and effective support is provided.
- Utilize advanced communication skills to empower young individuals to make informed decisions and develop actionable plans for their recovery.
- Collaboratively set realistic and achievable goals with clients, monitoring their progress and providing ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions in compliance with organizational standards and contractual obligations.
What You Need to Apply:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in counseling or a related field
- Experience working with youth who have experienced trauma
- Full and clean driver’s license
- Proficiency in Te Reo Māori (desirable)
- Registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., NZAC)
- Working knowledge of office technology
