Job Title: Facility Manager
Location: Oamaru, New Zealand
Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Facility Manager to lead a well-established aged care facility in Oamaru. This is a unique opportunity to step into a key leadership role at a respected rest home and hospital-level care facility, including a 17-bed dementia unit.

About the Facility

Our facility is home to 45 rest home residents, including 17 in the dementia unit. The Facility Manager will oversee a diverse and dedicated team of 35 staff members, including 2 registered nurses, 1 administrator, 15 health care assistants, and other support staff in kitchen, laundry, and maintenance services.

About the Role

This role offers the chance to take on full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the facility. You will report directly to the two directors, with one based in Oamaru and the other in Dunedin. You will be the sole manager on-site, ensuring the smooth running of the facility and the well-being of residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, including clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Oversee staffing, including managing rosters, ensuring staffing levels meet the needs of the residents.
  • Work within operational budgets to ensure the efficient delivery of services.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of registered nurses, health care assistants, and other staff.
  • Be available on-call 24/7 to attend to urgent matters and support staff when required (although nursing staff rotate the on-call shifts, the Facility Manager must be available by phone).
  • Manage staff performance and development, fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current practicing certificate.
  • Experience managing both clinical and non-clinical operations in aged care, particularly in a rest home and hospital-level care setting.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse team and ensure high standards of care.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage rosters, staff performance, and facility operations.
  • Knowledge of aged care regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage operational budgets effectively.
